Vaisakhi 2018

Havering Asian Social and Welfare Association (HASWA) celebrated Vaisakhi and HASWA’s 20th Anniversary on the 28 April 2018 at Campion School, Hornchurch, Essex. HASWA’s mission is to cater for all sections of the community, particularly those of Asian origin with specific emphasis on isolated, disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals to relieve poverty, provide welfare, social and cultural support.

Sansar Singh Narwal made a welcome speech and spoke about the history of HASWA and thanked all the funders that have made it possible for HASWA to run various projects for the needs of the community as well as social and cultural events to bring awareness of each other’s and address ’s events enhance cultural understanding and bring communities together.  Veena Jain, Storm V Academy entertained everybody during the evening, which included singing from the HASWA ladies’ group and performances by the children’s Bollywood dance group. The evening ended with a raffle and authentic Indian cuisine.

The Mayor of Havering Cllr Linda Van Hende, Cllrs Roger Ramsey, Melvin Wallace, Stephanie Nunn and Barry Mugglestone, Colonel Markham Bryant MBE DL and Andrew Rosindell MP and over 200 people attended the festivities.
