Activities

HASWA provides a number of activities available to people in the local community. These include:

Drop in Session

Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm.
Feel free to come in and enjoy HASWAS’ facilities including: Social and welfare advice, gym equipment for light exercise, computers with internet, Asian and general reading literature. Help is available for those with English as a second language.

Yoga Classes

Monday  & Wednesday 10 – 11:30 am.
Yoga is an ancient form of exercises that focuses on strength, flexibility, balance, and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. There is some evidence that regular yoga is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease aches and pains (including low back pain), depression, and stress. Classes are designed for all fitness levels. Bring your own mat.
No need to book, just come along!

Cost: £5 per class (members) or £6 (non-members).

Chair Yoga 

Monday 11:45 – 12:45 pm.
A chair-based yoga class is a gentle and accessible way to practice yoga that includes seated and standing poses using the chair for balance and support. Open to all ages, abilities, and levels of experience.

No booking is required, just drop in.

Sing & Smile at HASWA – Goldies UK

Monday 1 – 2 pm. Every second Monday of each month

Fun singalong sessions for older people.
No need to book, just come along!

Bollywood/Bhangra Fitness Class

Tuesday 10:30 – 11:30am. 
Bollywood
and bhangra, Zumba fitness class.
No need to book, get active and keep fit.

Cost: £5 per class (members) or £6 (non-members).

Sahara Carers’ Group 

Tuesday 1 – 2:30pm.

he Sahara Carer’s Groups provides services to help carers and those cared for; to improve access to support for harder to reach carers, to provide opportunities to socialise with others, and to reduce social isolation and provide information and advice on social care services.

No need to book, no charge, just come along.

Digital Skills Club

Tuesday 1- 3pm.
Topics covered will be Computer literacy, email, texting, WhatsApp, Zoom, internet, Windows 10, uploading pictures, camera, etc. Laptops are provided but you may bring your own devices laptop, tablet or phone.
No booking is required, just drop in.

Every First Tuesday of each month

Zumba Class

Tuesday  7:15 – 8:15pm.
Zumba exercise class.

Lunch Club 

Wednesday 12 – 3pm.
Lunch club to socialise, take part in stimulating activities such as antakshari, bingo, etc. with a freshly cooked, nutritious vegetarian Asian meal.  We also have regular visits from health experts who provide sessions on topics such as: dementia, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, healthy diets etc.

All levels and abilities.

Punjabi Class

Thursdays 6 – 7:30pm school term time only.
Punjabi language class at GCSE/AS/A-Level. Practice and learn Punjabi both written and spoken. For ages 7 upwards, beginners always welcome.

HASWA Chit & Chat

Friday 11 – 1pm.
Afternoon coffee/tea club where you can socialise and make new friends in a relaxed setting. Participate in activities, board and table games, discuss various topics, share information and much more. A range of refreshments will be available. No need to book, just come along!

Friday 1:30 – 4pm.
Elderly women’s social club.
